Secret Sweden creates a handful of extraordinary adventures each year, each set in the boundless forests, lakes and islands of western Sweden.
Over a long weekend we forage, swim, canoe and hike in some of the most breathtaking wilderness landscapes in the world, and each evening we sit down together to a multi course meal with the incredible produce we’ve found, foraged or fished during the day.
Each trip is unique, and we visit everything from remote farmhouses to Viking burial mounds perched atop stunning islands, and on the way we may get the chance to see sea eagles, black woodpeckers and beavers, look for signs of moose and lynx or listen out for the local wolf packs howling at night.

August 21st - 25th 2025
An unforgettable gastronomic journey set over 4 nights in the vast forests of Värmland and Finnskogen, led by former River Cottage chef Jacob Whitson. This harsh but beautiful place is an intersection of three different cultures - those of Norway, Sweden and Finland - and is the place where the Forest Finns forged a new life centuries ago, creating a unique heritage, history and landscape along the way. Game cookery and foraging with Chiara Tomasoni and Connor Reed
October 16th - 20th 2025
We’re beyond excited to welcome Chiara Tomasoni and Connor Reed between the 16th-20th October as guest chefs and tutors on a very special 4-night culinary tour here with us in Western Sweden!
Chiara and Connor share our enthusiasm for wild, foraged and seasonal ingredients and bring with them an incredible wealth of experience - Chiara's journey has taken her from shaping tortellini with her grandma in Bologna, Italy to being River Cottage Head Chef and becoming a MasterChef: The Professionals 2024 finalist. Anyone who followed her journey on Masterchef will know that letting her loose on the incredible produce we have at our fingertips here is going to result in some really exceptional food.
Connor began cooking at 15 in a seafood restaurant before moving to the South West. After some time at Pipers farm and a three-year stint as Head Butcher at Billot Club in Paris, he returned to River Cottage to lead the kitchen team and kitchen garden. We’re really excited to see him get to grips with some of our incredible game!
Over 4 nights we’ll cook, forage, and explore together the abundant world of the autumnal boreal forest. We’ll meet hunters and butchers who are masters of their craft, get stuck in with charcuterie and game cookery workshops, and sit down to incredible multi-course meals every evening. This is absolutely not one to miss and space is very limited!

We’ll dive deep into the anatomy and biology of freshwater fish, and how this is reflected in the unique ways of filleting, preparation and preservation that have developed across the world.
